Our Purpose
Even as some locations are already passing through the initial COVID-19 case surge, the path forward—moving from coping with the crisis to ending it and restarting the economy—remains largely uncharted. Healthcare administrators and government officials need data-driven insights to navigate the road ahead. The National Response Portal (NRP) brings together private industry, the public sector, and the nation’s hospitals in powering data-driven insights to understand, manage, and end the crisis.
When the crisis has passed, the NRP will continue to operate, serving as a hub for the integration of data and insights to continue to help the nation persevere through emerging crises of all kinds.
Our Focus
We support, rely on, and deeply appreciate the many other data collaboration initiatives that have arisen in response to the COVID-19 crisis. We seek to add value to this amazing ecosystem through specific emphasis in the following areas:
- We work directly with hospitals and other healthcare organizations to develop the most accurate, current, and complete dataset of COVID-19 diagnosis, outcome, and resource availability metrics available. Then we bring together some of the brightest minds in statistical forecasting to improve upon today’s forecasting models, providing decision-makers in healthcare and government with additional insight into what comes next.
- We answer questions at the intersection of public policy, social behavior, and health outcomes, i.e., how do social-distancing policies change public behavior, and what impact does that have on the spread of the disease?
- We provide immediately actionable information to the general public, helping them find access to testing and treatment facilities, essential services that remain open during the pandemic, and information about the spread of the disease in their community.
Our Sponsors
The National Response Portal is made possible through the collaboration of many individuals and organizations. We appreciate the following founding institutions who have made the NRP a reality.
HCA Healthcare provided the vision that became the National Response Portal and continues to lead through their healthcare subject matter expertise and on-the-ground experience in managing emerging healthcare crises.
The NRP is built on Google Cloud technology. Google Cloud also contributes to the NRP’s technical and analytical vision and supports the NRP’s designers, engineers, and scientists, inside and outside Google Cloud.
SADA is a Google Cloud Premier Partner, providing consultancy and technology services for healthcare and life sciences organizations. The NRP is built on SADA’s dotMaps and ATOM platforms and integrates other capabilities built by Google Cloud. SADA also serves as the steward and integrator of hospital data. Data submitted for use in the NRP is managed by SADA and not shared with third parties, including Google and HCA Healthcare.
Our Data Contributors
We are extremely grateful to the growing list of healthcare organizations helping to make the NRP a success through their data contributions. We especially appreciate the following organizations who have entered as early adopters, our Founding Data Providers:
HCA Healthcare
Community Health Services
Cleveland Clinic Foundation
